Summer Gerontological Grant Writing Course

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

Discuss key issues in planning their research trajectory.
Identify critical components of each section of a NIH research proposal.
Identify key components of a program project proposal.
Describe the grant review process.
Describe common reviewer criticisms of each section of a NIH research proposal and a program project proposal.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

This workshop was primarily developed for gerontological nurse faculty. It is also appropriate for beginning nurse researchers to assist them in gaining knowledge of the key components of successful grant writing for both research and program project proposals.

Course Format

The course will consist of a series of faculty presentations and group discussions. Participants will receive consultation in small groups on their proposals. Participants will also make a short presentation of their proposal plans.
