Through
the generous support of the John A. Hartford
Foundation and the Atlantic Philanthropies, the
Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity (BAGNC)
Scholar Awards Program recently selected 24 new
nurse Scholars and Fellows. Selected BAGNC Scholars
will receive up to $105,000 each to support their
studies and Fellows up to $125,000 to support
research in the field of geriatric nursing.
This
year,
twelve predoctoral
Scholars will receive a scholarship of $100,000 to
support their doctoral training and launch careers
in academic geriatric nursing.
Nine
Claire M. Fagin postdoctoral Fellows will each
receive $120,000 to support advanced research
training, mentorship, leadership and career
development. Both
Scholars and Fellows were chosen through a national competition
as part of the original
John A. Hartford
Foundation's initiative aimed at building
academic geriatric nursing capacity.
To date the Hartford
Foundation has invested more than $9.28 million in
scholarships for nurses through this program.
